Strange but true! Our credit card adventure with Targo Bank continues! As you could read in the last logbook entry, it's almost a tradition for my bank to take a buck at the end of my credit card's expiry time. Same this time. However, I was promised to send a card and a secret number to Borneo immediately. Kind! Card arrived after a few days with DHL, but the pin is a long time coming and without a PIN to activate, as you know, the card is useless! A French courier company called Chronopost was commissioned to send the letter with the number to Borneo by express. Express was then 2 weeks without any tracking number and when they tried to deliver the letter it was Saturday and the business with the delivery address was closed. After calling my bank, I was told that if no one was at home, the letter would be sent back to Europe. Now it's getting even funnier, because after consultation with the botched company, my bank can't tell me who the local partner is, so I can pick up the letter myself. Targo Bank paid 180 euros for 2 express mail items with neither tracking nor a second delivery attempt. Well done! Our French-Canadian sailing buddies Krys & Chris happily let us know they also had experience with Chronopost. However, they got their package delivered from France to the Philippines....after 11 months!!!! Anyway, we're fed up with waiting and are now sailing west along the north coast of Borneo. Sailing five to six hours a day is enough, as there are plenty of pristine white beaches and comfortable anchorages along the way that don't require a credit card. ;)
