As we pass the southern tip of Tioman, I suddenly have a Deja Vu, as if I have been here before.
But after some time I remember why it seems so familiar to me here. It reminds me of Waya Island in the Yasawa group of the Fiji Islands. Somehow the South Sea feeling comes up.

In a travel guide we read that Tioman became known through the Hollywood Movie "South Pacific" and filming location for the movie "Bali Hai" ....... Ha! Our South Sea feeling did not deceive us!
Tioman was declared one of the 10 most beautiful islands in the world!

But one story after the other.
When we arrive in Tioman with its total of 2300 residents, the wind blows quite strong from the west and on the anchorage in front of the small main town, it is anything but cozy with this kind of waves. Although there is even a Marina built by the Malay State for visiting yachts, with a price of 3US Dollar per day, it can not entice us.
Nearby there is the island of Pu Talai and the anchorage there is protected against the current winds and waves. So we quickly declare in at immigration, customs and harbour master, check the poor supply of small shops which provides us with the basic supply and up and away we sail!
Pu Talai is gorgeous.
Again totally different rock formations than on the islands further south in the Tioman group and the water is as clear as I have not seen since the Solomon Islands.
We explore the interior of the island, its beaches and coral reefs and will spend a few days here.
Look at the pictures and you will understand why. ;)
