The wind is against us
Well, we didn't make it all the way to Heraklion - somehow Poseidon, Neptune and all the mermaids were against us.
Too much wind and waves from the wrong direction slowed our progress considerably. At least we have arrived at the eastern tip of Crete, in a small sleepy town called Siteia. With its palm-lined promenade and the houses built into the hillside, this town exudes its own charm.
And again we meet acquaintances who have wintered with us in Marmaris.
A New Zealand couple who were also coming from the same direction as us and got terribly seasick on the crossing.
Now they want to stay in Siteia for a few weeks to regenerate.
Rudi left us this morning at 5 a.m. and took a taxi to the airport in Heraklion.
It was nice to see him again and to sail with him this week. Hopefully the sea gods will be in a better mood next time he visits.
We want to enjoy Siteia for another day or two before driving along the north coast of Crete.
