The illogical course
After more than 3 months in the marina and shipyard in Kudat, it was finally time for us to be on the road again.
At this time, the southwest monsoon prevails and therefore the real and logical way would be to sail eastwards.
However, further east is the typhoon season and the sea is particularly warm this year. As you all know, particularly warm sea temperatures are the cause of all tropical cyclones in the world, which usually have devastating consequences.
What the heck, we are time millionaires and no one pushes us, so we can wait for the right weather windows to sail eastwards,
always along the north coast of Borneo where there are almost no typhoons.
It feels good to be on the road again, to explore bays and beaches and to enjoy the gentle rocking at anchor.
If we like an anchorage we stay for a few days, if not we pull the anchor out of the sand and sail the next day, or if the wind is not right we motor to the next destination.
In one bay, apart from a rather simple and at the moment deserted holiday camp, we found a sailor who is stranded on the beach and whose mast seems to connect with the jungle over time.
Did I mention that it's nice to be on the road again?
