Phnom Penh/ Cambodia

This fascinating country has long been on our bucket list. Its history is both fascinating and terrifying. Visiting Cambodia on your own yacht is too expensive and too complicated. Corruption is rampant off the well known tourist track, and as a yacht owner, you have to pay the imaginary fees that the officials come up with, often amounting to several times their monthly salary, with restrictions that come to mind. It's no wonder there's hardly any yacht tourism in the country, despite its proximity to Thailand.

So we decided to choose the cheap and safe option with a plane and hotel.

We are absolutely thrilled by the Khmer country. The food, the friendliness, the ancient culture. We're out and about every day, first exploring Phnom Penh with its temples, palaces, and bustling night markets before heading inland in a rental car.
